Data Activities and Resources

Identifying Statistical Questions: Below is the Vital Signs program's Statistical Questions activity, which is a great way to build your students' understanding of what a statistical question is, and how they can develop or improve upon statistical questions. You can easily import these questions into a Kahoot or other interactive quiz platform.

Sampling Activity Lesson Plan and Data Sheet: This includes the bean sampling activity that we did at PD - both the lesson plan and the data sheet. Note that while we used beans, you could use any assortment of small things where you have at least 3-4 different colors or types in the mix. We like beans because they are cheap , easy to store, and cause less drama/eating of the samples than M&Ms or other candy. If you don't have any dice, you can use an online random number generator (https://www.random.org/integers/) to give you three random integers between 1 and 6.
